Author: Guest My DD is 18 month and she loves these cards. They are durable and a good size for her small hands They have pictures on both sides, so she can learn even more words. We also have the Baby Einstein cards, but prefer these.

Author: Guest The Scholastic Hands on Learning series is great for tactile learners. My toddler was evaluated as either on target or ahead on everything except verbal - he did not want to talk. His hearing was fine and there's no history of ear infections so hearing interference was ruled out as a factor. So, he began regular visits with a state intervention program to help him develop communication skills and everything we tried did not work. My mom bought him two boxes of flash cards from this series for Christmas. At first, he showed little interest. However, I kept trying. And it wasn't long before he started showing interest in the cards - particularly the ones he recognized as objects he encountered on a regular basis (ball, wagon, cat, dog, boy, orange, girl, etc.)
Aside from teaching abc's, as this particular title on the product indicates, the cards are made so that the pictures of common things a child might encounter in his/her world. They are inlaid with various textures that go along with the product being pictured. My son is a tactile learner - so when he could pick up the card, feel of it, and hear us repeat to him what the picture represented, he soon began naming the picture card himself. Once that started, he has now moved on to real, 3 dimensional around-the-house products - either pointing them out or bringing them to me or other family members to inquire what they are - and only after a couple of times of naming the object, he will add the word to his vocabulary.
I highly recommend this product as well as the other products in this series (as you can imagine, we have all of them now). They helped us open up a whole new world for my toddler.

Author: Guest I've been searching for educational flash cards for my son since he was 6 months old. I found Munchkin cards from the Right Start, but he didn't care for them (he just chewed them up!) When he was 10 months old, I came across these cards at Babies R Us and purchased them on a whim. I figured, he enjoyed touch and feel books, so why not these cards? Well, I was right. Although the age recommendation on these cards is from 2-5 years, I started reviewing these cards with my son at 10 months. He's 13 months now and so he still "babbles", but I am confident that these cards are working. First, they engage him (which is a rare feat!) He brings the cards to me every night, sits on my lap, and we go through the alphabet at least twice. He touches each card and giggles at all the animals. Each card has a different texture on one side, and on the other, it has some sort of glitter that keeps my son's attention. If your baby likes touch and feel books like my son, he/she will LOVE these cards. Also, my son is now pointing at objects that are featured on the cards, like "A" for apples, "D" for dog, etc. That shows me that he remembers the pictures on the cards and can connect them to real life. No other cards will keep his attention like these, and the reason is because they are touch and feel cards. I've now purchased the entire line of touch and feel cards by Scholastic. They are worth it!

Author: Guest This is a great set of alphabet flash cards. There is a double-sided card for each letter. One side has a textured object (dog, cat, orange, etc.) and the other side has shiny foil on the picture (doll, car, owl, etc). The are also quite sturdy and well-made. Both my girls (1 and 2) love looking at these cards.
