| Congratulations, you're expecting a baby! What you may not be expecting is all of the requisite gear you "need" to look after your dear bundle. Fear not. Denise and Alan Fields, authors of Bridal Bargains, are here to tell you what's super and what's silly, and how to find it at the best price. You'll learn all about how (and where) to shop for a crib and dresser (including how to get European styling at reasonable prices), what you need in bedding and what can be skipped (a hint: no baby requires the $200 quilt!), which clothing brands are safest and least expensive, and how to shop for monitors, toys, car seats, strollers, books, videos, and more. The authors have field-tested every major brand (and several of the minor ones), and they provide star ratings and annotations at the end of every chapter. A helpful feature in each chapter called "Wastes of Money" will steer you away from $35 Baby Air Jordans and frilly diaper stackers that match your bedding. If that's not enough, they offer a money-back guarantee: If the book doesn't save you at least $250 in baby expenses, they'll refund the price of the book. Well researched and written in a witty and comfortable tone, Baby Bargains should be required reading for every safety- and money-conscious parent-to-be. --Rebecca A. Author: Guest Lots of money will be spent preparing for baby's arrival, and this book helps one feel that the money has been well spent.
This is a well organized, honest, thorough critique of all the many baby 'must-haves'.
This book is really about value. Whether your on a tight budget or the skies the limit, this book will help you make informed, educated purchases on everything from clothing, to high chairs, to diapers.
A must.

Author: Guest This book is a good resouce for first time parents...HOWEVER, the authors sometimes preach which baby items are good based on reasons that may or may not be applicable to you. When you read through the book, take the comments with a "grain of salt". Go to the store and look at the products, rather than taking their advice on everything. Additionally, I found that they would oftentimes negatively rank a product because of a high price. This was frustrating because they would remain focused on the high item cost, rather than the benefits of the item.

Author: Guest I was recommended this book from a co-worker of mine. I was hesitant at first to purchase because they are always trying to sell anything and everything to expectant parents. I skimmed the book at the bookstore and thought it had enough useful information for me to buy it through Amazon. I can safely say that I consider this somewhat of a baby bible. It's very reassuring and I honestly find it better than the Consumer Products Baby Guide.

Author: Guest This was extremely helpful when registering for my shower. As a first time mom I had no idea what products were safe or better than others...
While the helpful moms in most baby departments offered up a thousand suggestions it was nice to have handy reference guide along for the trip.
I would recommend this to other first time moms or even moms who like to comparison shop!

Author: Guest As first time parents, we found this book to be very informative and very helpful in making sounds decisions for our little one.
The first time we walked into Babies R Us, we were so overwhelmed with everything (different brands, features, prices etc...) that we left the store 30 minutes later with no clue as to what we need and panicking that we were going to have to spend thousands of dollars to prepare for our baby's arrival.
A friend recommended this book and it has been our total savior. After reading it, we went back to Babies R Us with a list of exactly what we needed.
Through what seems to be extensive research, the authors offer ratings and comparisons among different brands for a broad range of products. They tell you where to find these products, how to get the best deals etc... The items recommended are not the most expensive but rather the sturdiest, safest and most beneficial. They even help you eliminate items that are not needed and considered a waste of money.
I definitely recommend this!
