While every princess should learn and demonstrate proper etiquette, twelve young princesses learn the importance of doing good deeds and following their hearts in Twelve Dancing Princesses. When an overwhelmed King Randolph seeks the aid of his cousin the Duchess Rowena in acquainting his twelve young daughters with appropriate princess etiquette, the overly strict Duchess forbids dancing, singing and anything that makes the girls happy. The girls' misery increases when their father suddenly becomes ill and the future looks bleak until the princesses discover that twelve special books bequeathed to them by their late mother open the gateway to a magical world where wishes are granted and dancing is celebrated. Eventually, maturity demands that the twelve princesses return to the real world and confront Duchess Rowena in order to save their father and his kingdom. This CGI animated production features music by Felix Mendelssohn, ballet choreography by the New York City Ballet, and wholesome messages about morality and the power of family. We watched this movie on Nick this weekend. My 3 1/2 year old enjoyed to movie very much, but was scared by some of the movie. It was rated TV-Y :

"All Children. This program is designed to be appropriate for all children. Whether animated or live-action, the themes and elements in this program are specifically designed for a very young audience, including children from ages 2-6. This program is not expected to frighten younger children."

Please take the time to view this one with your children the first couple of times. It is very different from the programs on PBS Kids or Playhouse Disney.

I am ordering a copy of this movie to watch with my daughter because TiVo didn't record the ending and she was very concerned for the outcome.

I hope it has a happy ending. :)

i just watched it today and i loved it.here is some things i have listed

PROS:

music was beautiful

nice dresses

cute monkey

CONS:

some dramatic seqences

the end was funny when rowena and her handyman were told to dance forever by spell.here are some historical figures

1.an duchess poisaning her cousin the king

2.the letter of margue

3.planning to thow relectives in the dungeon

i hope people like this movie.ENJOY!

i love pop music,opera,and even classical music, i am looking foreward for this movie because i been an fan since barbie in the nutcracker.duchess rowena's monkey, brutus is told to be mischeviose and duchess rowena may be like miss minchin from an little princess.but her need sounds like premingers!so watch for the italian symphony

I cant wait to see this it looks like a good movie! i love all the barbie movies well except barbie diaries but i have not seen that one....anyways i cant wait till this movie comes out im sure it will be great!

Being a Barbie movie fan since the Nutcracker I am extremely excited to see this movie! In this newest Barbie movie Barbie is playing the role of Genevieve a beautiful princess. In this movie Barbie and her eleven sisters must save their kingdom from their wicked Aunt who has forbidden any kind of happiness and laughter from them and makes them dress in plain colored clothes. Then one night the sisters find an enchanted world where they can be happy and dance again. While the princesses are away their Aunt tries to poision their father ,so she can have the kingdom for herself. Will she succed or will Barbie and her sisters find a way to stop her?
