Author: Guest How delightfully Southern! I read my sister's copy first, enjoyed it so much I ordered one each for my daughter and 4 of my best friends. Yes, we celebrate "passings" as far north as Tennessee, and I'm delighted to have new recipes!
Author: Guest If you are from the south or know anyone from the south, you will enjoy this book. There is a laugh on every page!
Author: Guest As a Southern church musician, reared by a grandmother born in the late 1800's the details of the customs, societal expectations, family eccentricities and community fixtures are "dead on." (pun intended) The friendly(?) competition between churches and individuals illustrates the status-consciousness of the matrons in towns and small cities. The recipes remind me of the comfort food of my youth. And no one has more characters than South.
If you are from the South, you'll recognize the people and the ideology. If you're not from the South, this is a great introduction to our customs, cuisine and contrariness.
Author: Guest There's a story behind every recipe, and this is hilarious book! My mother frowned upon the title, but couldn't put the book down. I'm buying several for Christmas presents.
Author: Guest I laughed 'til I cried. It's a must read for all of us GRITS (Girls Raised In The South). I ordered more to give as gifts to all my Southern girlfriends!
