... voila. 65 pounds gone. Thats a quarter million calories. Fat cells screaming for revenge, who will never receive it.

This is a book that has truly changed the face of health and wellness. I believe this from the bottom of my heart.

When my wife bought this book for me in August of 1999, I refused to crack open the cover. I was frustrated from trying so many diets that failed, and not getting anywhere. I finally gave in, read the first page, and never looked back.

There are plenty of guides that promise to deliver the latest magic bullet. They will tell you what to eat and how to train and then leave you wondering, "Why can't I stick with this?"

What makes Body-for-LIFE unique is that the book begins with something many others do not: inspiration. It only takes a few success stories to feel the excitement start to stir the butterflies in your stomach. These are REAL people who made a tremendous change and you get to glimpse inside their lives.

The book quickly moves to another aspect most people forget to consider, but is the most important muscle to train: your mind. I don't remember following any diet or reading any other book at the time that forced me to sit down and really consider my goals, my reasons, and what I was willing to sacrifice for the greater good. It was the ability to tap into a "why" or passionate reason to change that enabled me to overcome obstacles and gain enough momentum to finally transform.

Bill did a great job of simplifying the nutrition, training, and cardio. Make no mistake ... this book is meant to follow the KISS principle (keep it simple, silly). It succeeds. While there are other training methods, more ways to perform cardio, and certainly different options for successful, healthy nutrition than what is offered in this book, it is an incredible resource for beginners who want to just get it going.

You won't be overburdened with scientific explanations of kinesiology and physiology, instead, you'll get some straightforward illustrations of exercises and how to do them. Without going into digestion or how the body metabolizes carbohydrates, he provides a meal plan that is effective and simple enough to follow without being over-restrictive.

The cardio takes out any guesswork by telling you EXACTLY what to do for 20 minutes, three times a week, but endurance athletes may find these guidelines too rigid and I encourage you to explore other methods that may fit better into your schedule and, more importantly, your enjoyment.

Over all, I believe this is the masterpiece that shook the fitness industry awake and took the ordinary person and proved to them that they could choose to be extraordinary. It changed my life, and if you are open to the message, it may change yours as well.

I bought this book based on a friend's suggestion, though I was skeptical given the poor results I've had from other "diets." But this program has proved to be the only program that has actually worked for me. It has prompted me to adopt healthy and sustainable eating habits in my life, and it has given me a better body and a fountain of strength and vitality. I first tried the Body for Life program two years ago, and since then I haven't had any illness, not even a sniffle. Now I buy copies to give to my friends and family. I highly recommend this book.

After four years of this under my belt, I understand why he designed the program the way he did. This is still my all-time favorite book because of its simplicity.

Bill defines an easy-to-follow exercise program by taking the best aspects of a fitness program and rolls it up into one easy to follow 12-week routine. This allows folks who stick to the program for a reasonable amount of time to see results and works them hard enough to GET results which helps keep them from getting frustrated. I could SEE significant results in just four weeks. All of the "revolutionary secrets" that other books claim are in Body-for-LIFE.

I have to give it 4-stars because the one thing that is not stressed is flexibility. Weight training can make you very tight, so it would be a good idea to dedicate 15 minutes at the end of each workout serious stretching or incorporate a day or two of yoga (I practice Bikram's yoga) to to avoid chronic tightness and long-term injury.

I encourage ALL of my friends who are starting a fitness program to read this book - so much that I buy used books and just give them out.

This book is not the end all - I'd like to see an advanced edition that addresses flexibility and adds routine variety. But it is still my favorite because its the best book that I've come across for getting people started, being comprehensive, simple-to-follow and easy to use.

I had gained a bunch of weight over the years. Never really noticed until a friend told me, by that time I weighed over 250 lbs. People told me to eat better, lift weights and do cardio to get in shape..... but WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???!!!! The book breaks it down and tells you how to exercise (weights and food) and how to eat. I drop 50lbs of body weight over 2 challenges (more fat lbs and gained muscle weight). Not only does he break down how to eat and exercise but once a week on the "free day" you can eat WHATEVER you want. It makes this program very easy to stick to..... God knows I ate everything in site on my free day.

Anyway I look and feel great. As a matter of fact I look so good now over 40 people have completed or tried the program because of me. Trust me if I can do it so can you!
