Author: Guest Being a huge fan of Luis Miguel and of 'El Concierto' on VHS, I was sincerely looking forward to the DVD release - hoping for improved audio and visual quality over the VHS released in 1995.
However, the DVD release is disappointing. The video is in 4:3 format, not widescreen; and the audio is PCM stereo, not Dolby Digital. The clarity of the video is slightly better than the VHS, especially if you've worn out your VHS copy like I have. Other than that, there are no differences between the Tape and DVD - no bonus features, DVD booklet, or inserts. Bummer!
Having said that, the concert is outstanding. Luis Miguel's performance, vocal ability and audience engagement is enthralling. One viewing of this concert back in '95 made me a fan. If you haven't purchased the VHS, you might as well get the DVD. But if you're thinking about upgrading to the DVD from the VHS, don't get your hopes up with any improvements in quality or bonus features.
Author: Guest OK, I still have the original VHS 1995 release of this and it is absolutely incredible. This came out right after the time of his Multiplatinum CD release "Segundo Romance" and features all the songs on that album as well as some of his tried and true favorites. I especially enjoy the "medleys" of his classics.
My opinion, honestly, one of the best voices ever to be recorded, even live. This guy is just amazing and I even got my girlfriend to like his music by showing her this tape and letting her listen to some of his best CD's and she doesn't even speak a word of Spanish! I hope the DVD is remastered for superior sound quality.
Can't wait for the next album! Luis Miguel you are the man and keep up the fantastic work.
