Written with the support of the Maharishi Ayur-Veda Institute, this comprehensive cookbook shows how to incorporate the timeless principles of Ayurveda into the twenty-first-century kitchen.
A result of Miriam Kasin Hospodar's twenty-year culinary journey, Heaven's Banquet draws from a rich palette of international cuisines and shows how to match your diet to your mind-body type for maximum health and well-being. The more than 700 recipes included here range from Thai Corn Fritters and Asian- Cajun Eggplant Gumbo to West African Avocado Mousse and Mocha-Spice Cake with Coffee Cream Frosting. Readers will discover the most effective methods of preparing food, the benefits of eating seasonally for individual types, and how to create a diet for the entire family. There are special sections on how to lose weight and control sugar sensitivity, a questionnaire to help determine mind-body type, and essential ingredients for a well-stocked Ayurvedic kitchen.

Author: Guest This is an excellent book; however, the only complaint that I have regards the vast amount of ingredients, some I have never heard of, that must be incorporated into each meal. The author also somehow believes that we all have the time and money to cook three different meals every day. How many people really have the time for this? Also, so many ingredients are needed in most vegetarian cooking, including very exotic spices like saffron, for example, which is about $8.00 for a tiny amount of saffron strands. Regardless of the presumptious faults of most of these cookbooks, I still would recommend this book because it really is quite good. I use at least one of the recipes from it every week, as I also have some other vegetarian cookbooks that I use throughout the week. The key is to implement other cookbooks throughout the week and rotate them.

Author: Guest The recipes are great, but what sets this book apart from others
is the excellent explanation of the Ayurvedic approach to health
and diet. In addition, the information on just about any type
of grain/vegetable/fruit you can think of is fascinating.
Finally, the anecdotes and interesting quotes spread throughout the text make this just a fun book to browse.

Author: Guest This vegetarian cookbook thoroughly explains ayurvedic foods and style of diet as well as the three doshas. There is a chapter for novice cooks that is truly informative and helpful to those of us who never learned to cook at all. Also interesting is information on locally-grown produce, organic produce, water, and a whole list of wonderful tips on how to cook beans.
My only regret is that most of the recipes use oil, butter or ghee (clarified butter) and many use salt, sugar or sweeteners - I wasn't aware of this before I read the book.

Author: Guest An absolutely inspiring and clear, concise book of recipes for abilities ranging from novice to expert that might just change your whole outlook on food preparation. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Author: Guest Any cookbook that has a winning recipe for cookies is, at the very least, worth the paper it's printed on...so don't miss the almond crescents on page 433. This, then, is thy commandment: honor thy cookbook and buy not from Nabisco. The recipe for kitcheri on page 189 is very easy and tasty. I haven't the time to try the rest of the items in the book and deeply desire that someone comes to cook for me soon. When she does, I'll throw this book at her, all in good fun, of course.
