Author: Guest As if from the eye of an all-seeing deity we view a constant state of beautiful natural environs -waterfalls, verdant spring fields, paths winding through lush forests - that continually unfold, shift to reveal the hidden spirit life within. The blend of animated movements of its greenery, waters, light refractions give form to a feeling of the life force on Earth that is truly an original artistic interpretation. It is a journey of shimmering evanescent leaves, erupting kaleidoscopic trees, Buddhas of light particles springing from streams, interwoven with invented, playful texts. Sacred ancient and Tolkienesque symbols are used as well as sinewy patterns of leaves to denote forgotten languages.
Such symbols act to heighten the imagination and loosen our precepts allowing us to open to the possibilities of larger states of consciousness. Since the text is not rooted in logic, in an interior space we become the narrators of the tale; the viewer writes the story, interprets the meaning of these illuminant vignettes of grace. There are windows and arches to look beyond, doorways to walk through, energies coalescing, moving toward the next intriguing scene. This is an uplifting, calming, while also highly passionate tale that "we write" as we are immersed in liquescent flowers, dark night skies, and glance upon secret mountaintop sanctuaries.
Equally lush and exotic is the original full-blown soundtrack by Fritz Heede which is a fantastic blend of Middle Eastern, Indian, Tibetan, Mongolian, Persian, Egyptian, Balinese, Chinese etc.! This isn't a mere "back drop" to accompany this special effects piece as many soundtracks in this genre are, but a highly crafted, thrilling, hair-raising aural experience in itself! You will be completely engaged in these dream-state vistas due to the marriage of this intoxicating, sensual score to "I.M.'s" facile radiant effects. I bought the separate soundtrack which was featured on NPR for a month, and it's fabulous because it takes me back to the heart of the experience of viewing "I.M." , which is like a day in a spa or a spiritual retreat. I highly recommend BOTH the DVD and the CD.

Author: Guest Illuminated Manuscripts is a lyric, lucid dream, filled with lush and gorgeous imagery. Evocative and reflective, this DVD is a visual meditation that takes the viewer through a peaceful journey. A perfect marriage of visuals and music, this DVD is always near my DVD player - watching it is the perfect way to relax after a long day, and it is also a great piece of looping art. I wouldn't throw a party without this playing, and guests are always entranced by its beauty.
I would recommend this DVD highly - a rating of 5 stars isn't enough!

Author: Guest Banks' ever-changing scenes are so beautiful and fascinating to watch that they may be too exciting for relaxation on first viewing! Repeated viewings are recommended - perfect for meditation, or as a work of art to keep running in many environments - living rooms, waiting rooms, as a piece of moving art to be displayed on a wall-mounted plasma screen, etc. Symbols and imagery within the work indicate a mystery to be solved, which leads to reflection and inner vision. These manuscripts are truly illuminating.

Author: Guest Anybody who questions the superlative nature of this presentation has clearly missed the utter beauty of it. One is presented with images that pull together emotions that exhist in dark conrers of everyones phyche. It is challenging, disturbing and uplifting in ways that words cannot express. Watch this in a K hole and try to comprehend he creators understanding of Berkleyan philosophy. A work of genius.

Author: Guest Whereas other CGI videos in my collection get a viewing once or twice a year, Illuminated Manuscripts is a frequent guest in my DVD player. Why?- First and foremost, the images are stunning, organic and gorgeously rendered, way beyond the recycled pseudo-sci fi themes that many CGI videos lapse into. From pulsing mandalas to jeweled oceans to mysterious temples, the video is nothing less than a spectacular journey through some mind-bending dreamscapes. The DVD never ceases to amaze me. I always see something "new" that I hadn't noticed or remembered before - Fritz Heede's soundtrack is top-drawer: not overpowering so it competes with the music but so skillfully done, it stands on its own. I highly recommend the CD of the soundtrack if you like world music, Indian or Middle Eastern music. (It was so good, it's been played on Hearts of Space.) - The creators were not stingy in adding bonus features such as ambient remixes of several of the tracks plus a "loop" feature that's like a screen saver for your TV. You pick one of six looping scenes, complete with sound effects and/or music, and just let it play. Always amazes my guests! - This is a DVD that you can leave quietly playing in the background for ambiance, or you can pour a glass of wine or a cup of tea, sit back, and let it take you on a beautiful journey.
