Author: Guest I started exercising with Jane Fonda videos back in the early 1990's when I was a young teenager. I was delighted to discover that some of her classic workouts have been released on DVD!
First: yeah, it's, like, totally 80's. There is big hair. There are leopard print leotards and slouch socks. So? You'll still get a fantastic workout, and you'll have fun doing it. Besides, if you're an 80s child, as I am, you'll find the eighties flashback to be a wonderful bit of nostalgia.
Why are these workouts still available? Why do they still have a following? It's simple: They work. They're fun. They're challenging. They feature Jane Fonda, who is a superlative instructor.
Anyway, on to the workouts:
1. Complete Workout: This is the tape I used for home maitenance when I was competing in gymnastics. It's a surefire way to build strength and endurance from head to toe.
The distinct program sections make it easy to fit this workout into your schedule. If you only have the time or energy to do aerobics or the lower body exercises, you'll still get a complete warmup and stretch. If you want to slog your way through the entire hour workout, you can do that too, and you won't feel overexerted.
The way the aerobics class is designed is great too: half the participants perform high-impact aerobics; the others do the same choreography modified for low-impact. If you're tired in the middle of your workout, you can always switch from high to low instead of quitting. The choreography is innovative and enjoyable.
2. Stress Reduction: A perfect low-impact workout for those days when you're especially tired or sore. The aerobics are low-key, the stretches are soothing, and the relaxation exercise is surprisingly effective at chilling you out.
In both workouts, Jane is a top-notch instructor and motivator. There's constant emphasis on safety and working at one's own personal pace; Jane stresses the proper ways to perform each exercise and suggests modifications.
I'd recommend this DVD to anyone interested in improving their fitness level or varying their exercise routine.

Author: Guest Right back into the 80s here. I used to do Jane fonda when I was little with my mom. I was excited to see it on DVD to try. Unlike a lot of the newer videos I have.. I really like Jane because she tells you why you're doing what you're doing (ie. she points to the muscle groups.. tells you what they're for... how to know which weights to use).
Compared to videos today-- this ones a bit cheesy ;-) I laughed a lot. But the workout is still there-- and so is the info.

Author: Guest I just did this workout for the first time and I spent a lot of time laughing! The first sight of it was the best. The 80's look! Once I got past that it wasn't too bad. Not an intense, strenuous workout by any means, but it was kind of fun to do all these "old school" exercises. Just the plain old aerobics, the grapevine & the ponies, I haven't done those in a while. The instructions are a little hard to hear with the "rockin' music". There is a separate section for arms, lower body & abs that is again, not the hardest, but better than doing nothing at all I guess! The DVD is not something I would base my whole exercise plan on, but to throw it in maybe once a month for something different won't be so bad. It was just a fun change of pace.
