Author: Guest Sally Fallon's book should be the first book to read if you really want to get beyond the falsified scientific "research" claims that have caused more disease and harm and greater corporate profits than any other modern force. Don't be misled into thinking that this is just a recipe book, because the most important information is right up front, describing the GREAT VALUE of eating GOOD fats and dietary cholesterol as well as red meat, coconut oil and other nourishing foods. Today's food processors and corporate farmers are poisoning us en mass with untold toxins ranging from pesticides to hexane to steroids to margarine, and they are using our medical doctors and dietitians as their esteemed sales force. This is a very important book, and people should support the Weston Price organization to keep up their good work. - Vic Shayne, PhD, author of Illness Isn't Caused by a Drug Deficiency! and Evil Genius in the Garden of Eden

Author: Guest I love this cookbook, she gives you lots of very important facts and stories about ingredients. I am very interested in natural products and ingredients. I believe our bodies were made to heal themselves if we treat them right.

Author: Guest Life Changing! This isn't a fad diet. This book outlines the way mankind has eaten for thousands of years, with strong healthy bodies to show for it.
Our health in America is dangerously ebbing away. Asthma in children is increasing, there is more cancer, heart disease, strokes and diabetes than 100 years ago, intestinal disorders are on the increase and everywhere you turn you hear, "I'm lactose intolerant". The medical community isn't sounding the alarm because they have their secret (lucrative) weapons- prescriptions by the cartful! Our food supply is hurting us but the food industry sure isn't going to break their silence! This book outlines the way back to good health. The first 70 pages give all the scientific background as to why you should go back to eating food made from scratch, not processed or fast food, and the remainder of the book helps you get there.
For thousands of years mankind has lived without an epidemic of the above mentioned diseases. Something is terribly wrong with our food supply and unless we go back to eating traditional foods our bodies will continue to be damaged.
Just remember, little steps will get you there; keep going forward adding onto each change a little more. You can find great support through Weston A. Price Foundation.

Author: Guest I, too, would like to know the credentials of "westcoaster" and unfortunate to have that review posted first. I first learned of the book from my sister-in-law; she and my brother are organic farmers in the midwest and students of common sense nutrition and eating mostly "from the source". Although the sheer volume of information contained in the book can be a bit overwhelming, I found that reading the first part as a text book and to get a feel for the information then reading the chapters one at a time to "digest" was most helpful. It really is a common sense approach which as a society we want to dismiss because it makes us move out of our comfort zone of ready-to-eat and overprocessed foods; the very same dietary patterns that have helped us to evolve into overweight, overmedicated 'higher beings'! I am a mother of three and have raised my family primarily on home-cooked, from-scratch cooking using organic when possible and yes, it takes a bit more time and planning, but I think a healthy life is the very worthwhile payoff. I am constantly still learning new things in nutrition and challenging old beliefs which is why I find Sally Fallon's work so beneficial. Most recently I have been delving into the "Grains and Legumes" chapter and find it most enlightening that so many of our current dietary diseases and conditions (gluten intolerance, wheat allergies, etc) can often be traced to the modern day method of preparing grains--who knew? After reading this book, now I DO!

Author: Guest The premise behind this book is a good one. Unfortunately, the dietary information isn't entirely correct (in some instances it's dangerously incomplete or even downright wrong!), and I felt the author was perhaps more focused on opposing the "politically correct diet dictocrats" than she was on safe and healthy dietary guidelines.
If this topic interests you and you can get a really cheap copy, it might be worth it. But take the dietary info with a grain of salt (pun intended). Otherwise, wait for a better expose' to come along.
