Author: Guest I have over 10 years of project management experience, but realized I didn't know everything. So I purchased this book and found several areas I needed to brush up on, plus learned techniques I had never used before. This book was invaluable in getting me ready for the PMP exam, which I took and passed Jan. 30, 2006. I am also starting to implement several of the tools I learned in my team's projects to improve our implementation. I highly recommend this book to anyone getting ready to take the PMP exam or just wanting to learn techniques that will improve their current processes.

Author: Guest I have read at least 5 different guides for the PMP, and this one is by far the most effective. It is NOT a rehash of the PMBOK, does NOT put you to sleep, and encourages you to learn the concepts. Highly recommended!!! BTW - Passed on 1st try.

Author: Guest It's simple, easy to read and learn how to get your PMP!

Author: Guest PMBoK is very condensed, may be a little dry, to make sense for any industry. Rita's book is more down on Earth and helped me a lot to understand easier what PMBoK says, how it is applied in real life. It perfectly follows PMBoK content, but for each chapter Rita presents how to approach each notion, presents practical examples, and exercises. Each chapter contains some exercises accompanied by comments and answers. Also, Rita presents some good tips on how to prepare for exam, where to focus. For sure this book helped me to learn faster for PMP exam. I'd used 3 books: PMBoK, this book and The Fast Forward MBA in Project Management by Eric Verzuh. For tests I'd used PM FASTrack: PMP Exam Simulation Software by Rita Mulcahy. All the preparation was smooth and pleasant. It was so because of Rita's materials. But these materials helps to learn for PMP exam, they do not make anyone a better Project Manager. Nothing can replace real work experience, struggling with deadlines, dealing strong personalities, understand and manage unspoken agenda, face over the night deadlines, etc.

Author: Guest I cleared my PMP exam in first attempt with bare minimum preparation. I never read PMBOK guide. Just paced myself through this book and took few sample tests from (pmstudy.com). Though the questions are outdated on both the book and the website but they still hammer in the basics of PM, PM framework and the do's and don'ts for the exam. The exam format changed sometime in Oct. 05 and not much is available for the new exam format. Nevertheless, these two things and roughly around 2 weeks of preparation helped me to breeze the exam yesterday. Good luck to all of you.
