Author: Guest I enjoyed the first season of Prison Break immensely. The characters shine in their own respects and they develop nicely as a somewhat dysfunctional family working towards a common goal. T-Bag and Abruzzi (played by the hilarious "V-Dub" Mark V spokesperson Peter Stormare) are EXCELLENT in their respective parts and terrific scene stealers.
The main issue I had with the story is some of the plot points and "barriers" the characters faced. Some of them seemed like the writers just threw them in to keep it an hour-long show. However, I enjoyed seeing the separate plot points diverge and converge during the course of the season.
All in all, good series. Well acted and enjoyable (although at times outrageous) plot.

Author: Guest It's a mystery to me that the first season of this show didn't get more attention while it was running. While viewers and reviewers were ranting about 24, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives, this show slipped completely under the radar.
Tragic for those who missed it, but a real find for those who caught it. This show had me entranced and, literally, on the edge of my seat, from the very beginning and I didn't, couldn't, wouldn't let myself, miss an episode.
Prison Break is a masterpiece of suspense (Yeah, I said it, a masterpiece). Not only did every episode conclude with a cliffhanger that made you feel like you were facing the longest seven days of your life before you could find out what happens, but even the commercial breaks were torture. Absolutely none of the cliche' and predictability of most network television (including the series mentioned above).
Prison Break is so brilliantly crafted that, by the 15th or 16th episode, I actually found myself wishing for just one predictable turn, for just one thing to happen the way I guessed it might. Fortunately, it didn't happen. Every time I thought I knew what was coming, thought it was even obvious what would happen next, I was way off, and never so delighted to be wrong in my life.
You might wonder how a prison show would play out on network television with no room for vulgarity, hard-core violence or other elements of an action series set in a maximum security prison. But the script is well crafted enough that you truly don't notice the lack of expletives that should be commonplace in such a setting, even a fictional one.
Who are these writers? Where have they been? and Why have they not been hired to write every show on television?
The acting is decent but, with the exception of Wentworth Miller as Michael and Robert Knepper as T-bag, not great. It doesn't matter though, because the story and script is so good, I'd watch it if a team of farm animals were acting it out. Maybe next season.
In closing, Prison Break is the most engaging, suspenseful series on network television and one of the best shows on network or cable television.
Fair warning to those who watch it on DVD for the first time - When you sit down to watch the first episode, you may want to plan for a 22 hour marathon, because once you start watching, you won't be able to stop.

Author: Guest I taped the entire season on my DVR only to have it go on the fritz and loose everything! I am SO glad this is coming out on DVD. I actually find myself forgeting to breathe during this show. It is so well written that as soon as you think you have it all figured out, it proves you wrong. A MUST SEE !!

Author: Guest From the first commercial preview of the show, I was hooked. I was wondering, "How can they make a series about trying to escape from prison? What if they do escape? Or caught?" Wentworth Miller plays Michael Scofield to perfection in his first major role. Also, T-Bag plays the creepiest guy on television with his snaky Southern drawl and facial expressions. I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley! Abruzzi is also great as a Russian mobster (he was great in Armageddon!). The characters are all well played and there is a perfect mix of characters you love to love and characters that you love to hate. This series is a great cliffhanger series where each episode makes you upset when it is over. I think one could probably watch this DVD in only a few days. Here is the list of the 22 episodes:
1. Pilot
2. Allen
3. Cell Test
4. Cute Poison
5. English, Fitz or Percy
6. Riots, Drills and the Devil (Part 1)
7. Riots, Drills and the Devil (Part 2)
8. The Old Head
9. Tweener
10. Sleight of Hand
11. And Then There Were Seven
12. Odd Man Out
13. End of the Tunnel
14. The Rat
15. By The Skin & The Teeth
16. Brother's Keeper
17. J-Cat
18. Bluff
19. The Key
20. Tonight
21. Go
22. Flight
If you missed this first season on FOX, go buy this right now so you can enjoy Season 2 next season. You will not be disappointed as this has become one of my favorite cliffhanger shows along with 24 and Lost.
