I bought this book based on the very high recommendation from a friend's frind. I tried several times making some of the baby puree meals from scratch as described and found that it took a lot of time and my son didn't like it at all and wouldn't eat it...and then felt guilty about not making things from scratch! When I got it out to give a try for my second son, I had a vetern mom perspective, and decided that this is a book for people that have a lot of time on their hands and/or really love to cook, and it will just make the rest of us feel guilty for not being more "home made". In todays day and age, you can find a lot of great, organic baby food for when babies are really young. And once they can eat more finger food, most people can follow their own good nutrition knowledge and don't need this book. In the end, I used it only for suggestions on how long to cook veggies to make them soft enough for baby (which you can get from many cookbooks). I suggest you don't waste your money!

I read some other reviewers' notes who felt that some of the information may be inaccurate. My question is, are you going to use just ONE resource to research your baby's food, especially if you're considering making your own? On the concerning issues (such as the use of nuts in baby's diet), consult various resources and people. Besides, the author emphasizes clearing these things with your pediatrician and defers to her when there are questions.

Otherwise, I think you will find this book is a real gem. Her whole philosophy and approach to feeding your babies (ages 0 to adult!) is very natural and nutritious. She is also obviously a vegetarian and quite environmentally-conscious, based on her cooking methods and countless time-, energy-, and money-saving tips. This was much appreciated. I have been using many of her methods for feeding my baby and my whole family.

I recommend this book to any new or veteran parent who wishes to feed his or her baby well. And I recommend many of the cooking methods and health food ideas to my friends and family for their own adult food prep.

I liked one reviewer's comment about using the information you need and leaving what may not be possible/relevant to you right now. If you don't have time to make your own yogurt, that's understandable, but you may find that you are able to make most of the recipes quite quickly and way more economically!

In short, I HIGHLY recommend this book. And at that price for such a comprehensive resource, how can you go wrong?!

I found lots of great information in this book, but I didn't want to sit down and read it cover to cover. It's one big book and seems to be very poorly organized. I love the recipe for the Super Baby Porridge and use it for my baby and also like the idea of using organic yogurt as a meal base. While this book has some great information, the author is constantly referencing information on other pages. I found it frustrating to be flipping all around. With the right editor, this could be a very good book.

I am working full time and hate shopping and cooking. I loved the tips and my son loves the porridge (and it's grown on me too). It made me assess my family's diet in order to make some healthier choices. The quick reference tip page is easy to follow to rotate necessary nutritional needs.

I didn't read it cover to cover, just took out the pieces I needed, combined that info from some recipes from this and other books, and feel empowered that I am making my baby healthy food in the context of a balanced diet. (And it really does save a bundle of $$ as compared to the other kids jar food in his day-care class!)

Searching for a recipe book on making healthy, natural baby food, I was recommended the book "Super Baby Food." I borrowed the book from the local library before purchasing and I am glad that I did. The book is exhaustive in detail and although I am sure it was well intended, I did find it unnecessary. With time on short supply, all I wanted was the recipe. I found everything I was looking for in the book Simply Natural Baby Food by Cathe Olson.
