Author: Guest DO NOT confuse your feelings about Kung-Fu the Series with what you may see in this video (should you decided to buy it). I am a huge fan of the Kung-Fu Series and attribute my recent decision to begin taking classes in Kung-Fu and T'ai Chi to how Mr. Carradine interpreted his role on-screen. I was extremely disappointed, however, in the way Mr. Carradine, his producers, and the team of on-screen participants presented the T'ai Chi material. I couldn't get past the arrested development of it all; those huge hairdo's of the 80's; those outfits...it was like the Solid Gold Dancers meets Dance Fever. I would have much preferred the taping of a real T'ai Chi class. The music (style and volume) is also a distractor that detracts one's ability to grasp what is being taught here. And finally, I was looking for Yang style T'ai Chi and did not find it here. In fact, I'm really not clear what style T'ai Chi is being taught in this video. Whatever you do, keep shopping. Don't stop here! There are loads of T'ai Chi instructional videos out these days that are much, much better than this one.

Author: Guest David Carradine is an ACTOR. I have viewed two of his 1980s VHS tapes & he knew NOTHING about martial arts back then. His form was atrocious. He has OTHER PEOPLE lead because at least he was honest that he didn't know enough to teach. He and all the other "students" in the two videos I saw were laughable. It's like learning gymastics from a person who can't even do a cartwheel. You will not learn proper form, you will only hurt yourself & will form wrong conclusions because you were not taught right. I have taken several classes of Tai Chi short yang style, have learned the basics of Chinese medicine, love martial art movies & read books & documentaries on martial arts.
The camera too many times focuses on David & other "students" who have no clue what they are doing. This may confuse you since it's usually totally different from what the real martial artist is doing. The blank stares alone scared me on those.
In his 1997 Tai Chi workout, he seems to have better body awareness/proper form/posture, but still seems to lack understanding of energy. In example: in the Lotus kick, you lift your knee gracefully in a cicular motion to your extended arm at shoulder level to increase muscle control & balance. David was bending his arm down to meet his knee & STRUMMING his lifted knee like he was playing AIR GUITAR. He put so much time & effort in slapping/stroking his knee instead of the kick itself.
The production quality & pace is good, but please, at least ONLY watch the lead martial artists, NOT him.

Author: Guest This video is big on looks but is obviously designed to play to the gullible that think Carradine is the character he played on TV (some 30 years ago!) He was a dancer, not a martial artist and this shows. Some of the dancers in the background cant even keep together, making this video really a joke. Some gratuitous plugs for his other videos are here this masquerading as instruction. Save your money !

Author: Guest The workout is wonderful, and the instructions are very good. I found it very easy to follow the excerizes. I did find it somewhat disappointing in the end, however. While the music is beautiful, it reminded me of what you would find in an elevator. I was hoping for more traditional music in the program. The choice of class members in the background was also somewhat disappointing. Some of them seemed to be only there to push air around and did not seem to have grasped the concept of moving chi energy. I have not watched it since the first time.
