Description

Product Description
New this year is an "Herbal & Alternative Therapies" section. The Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia continues to be the most popular and most trusted portable drug dosing reference available! Newly updated for 2003 (our 17th year), the Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia continues the high-quality tradition of a convenient, organized, and concise pocket manual packed with vital drug information meticulously peer-reviewed by experts and clinicians of multiple specialties. It details typical drug dosing (both FDA approved and off-label uses), available trade and generic formulations, metabolism, safety in pregnancy and lactation, relative drug pricing information, and Canadian trade names. Multiple invaluable tables supplement the drug content, including opioid equivalency, emergency drug infusions, cardiac dysrhythmia protocols, pediatric drug dosing, and much more.

Editorial Descriptions are usually submitted by the manufacturers, publishers and authors. Contact us if you are one of them, and wish to change the above description.

This med reference fits nicely in a lab coat pocket. The information on each drug only pertains to commonly prescribed uses, dosages, trade names. If you are looking for a mini PDR, this is not the book for you, it was a required text for one of my NP courses.

The Pocket Pharmocopoeia provides an incredible amount of information in a small amount of space. It is easy to read and understand and can be easily carried in a labcoat, briefcase, or laptop case. It is particularly useful for dictating when a PDR is too cumbersome or unavailable. I have used it extensively since buying it.

Despite having epocrates on my PDA, I still found this book to be very useful. I had used the small version for years, throughout medical school, but during my internship I purchased the larger version with the plastic cover. Having used both, I would say I actually prefer the larger one as the extra information it contains is useful and pertinent, especially for those taking care of inpatients. Its nice to have some extra info regarding side effects, dosage forms, generic vs brand, etc.

Most of my patients now are either surgical or seen in an outpatient setting and so the smaller version is probably adequate for me now. Either way you can't go wrong. Would highly recommend this book, and the small version is pretty good too.
