Description

Product Description
Referred to as the "Grand Prix of epidemiology" by The New York Times, this study examines more than 350 variables of health and nutrition with surveys from 6,500 adults in more than 2,500 counties across China and Taiwan, and conclusively demonstrates the link between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. While revealing that proper nutrition can have a dramatic effect on reducing and reversing these ailments as well as curbing obesity, this text calls into question the practices of many of the current dietary programs, such as the Atkins diet, that are widely popular in the West. The politics of nutrition and the impact of special interest groups in the creation and dissemination of public information are also discussed.

I've been vegan, i.e. eating a plant-based diet for about 4 years now. I thought I knew everything there was to know about nutrition and health. I thought that I was eating an incredibly healthy diet by avoiding all animal foods.

T. Colin Campbell's book dispelled that notion. Since reading the book I have enormously altered my diet. Though the diet I ate was somewhat what Dr. Campbell recommends in that it was "plant-based", it lacked an important specification to that category, and that's "whole-foods".

I learned that plenty of Vegan foods are unhealthy, i.e. those made my refined sugars, starches, etc... and those high in fat and salt.

Dr. Campbell's research is overwhelming and convincing. What we need to be consuming for optimal health is a low-fat whole-foods plant-based diet.

I have never felt more troubled by the idea of consuming animal products in terms of health-concerns . Everytime i see someone eat animal food, I feel deeply guilty, as if i were contributing to their ailment. I want to pour all of the information from The China Study out of my mouth, but i don't want to push them away by being perceived as dogmatic or biased. All i can do is sigh and tell myself that when i get the money, i'll buy them a copy and they can see for themselves.

If you have a fear of getting cancer, heart disease, or any other illness, read this factual account of what really works to prevent and REVERSE illness. This respected scientist explains the indisputable facts that brought him to change his life and outlook on what really works for good health. It is absolutely astounding as well as simple and cheap. I never realized the information that has been available for YEARS and now (sadly)I know the reason we have not heard about it except in minor drips and drabs. Kudos to Dr. Campbell for not selling out and being courageous enough to bring this to the public's attention. This is the most important book of the decade.

This is very sharp study on a crucial topic. Readers can learn a lot from the Chinese diet and life. Only thing I may add is that it should add more information on the changing Chinese life style, so that it can better reflect the changing living conditions of the Chinese in a fast changing era, which may affect their diet and life. For this, I recommend a brilliant book on current China affairs by a top Chinese journalist/consultant George Zhibin Gu in his book: China's Global Reach: markets, multinationals, and globalization, which offers sweeping views of the vast changes inside China.

I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic 4 years ago and have been insulin dependent for 2 years. I have had a constant struggle maintaining my blood glucose levels until I read this book and learned that I have been so misled by the mainstream nutritional information. T. Colin Campbell, thank you for writing this book and sharing your years of research with the public. I have completely eliminated animal proteins from my diet and have almost completely eliminated my insulin and oral medications in less than 30 days. I have never felt better!

When I read this book, I had the feeling that I have discovered something that somehow, inside me, I knew it was right.

After John Robbins's 'Diet for a New America' and 'The Food Revolution', who were written from the heart, this is the book that was written from the true scientist's point of view, and it brings that extra pertinent information you always knew it has to exist somewhere, but it was hard to find.
