Author: Guest I first read this book on the recommendation of my doctor and have since given copies to many who now comment on my new vitality and stamina since I have used the author's menus and food plans. He carefully relates the food choices to research-based information on why and how the suggested items support good health and help to prevent diseases. The emphasis on fresh and natural foods seasoned well eliminates feelings of "starving" or depriving oneself to shed unwanted weight. The very act of preparing the foods you will eat awakens a feeling of caring for yourself in a different way.

Author: Guest While there are many positive aspects to this diet (namely, increased fruit and vegetable consumption), I did NOT find it effective for weight loss. My sister and I both followed the menu plan for phase one...my sister stayed the same weight and I actually gained 1 pound! I believe that the foods were not filling/fibrous enough for the calories, since you use fruit juices and concentrates and some other relatively empty foods. I will say that I felt healthy otherwise and had less headaches than usual. This may be a good general way of eating for some, but it was ineffective for weight loss as it promises.
I would recommend "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman instead of this book. Dr. Fuhrman uses medical evidence to back up his beliefs, and I truly believe that his medical background makes it trustworthy and revolutionary!

Author: Guest Dr. Gallands book was recommended to me by a friend and I decided to give it a try because I was at my wits end with all the diets out there. I had tried Weight Watchers, South Beach...etc, and always lost a few pounds but gained them back and then some. After following Dr. Gallands diet for 10 days, I had lost 11 pounds. My skin actually felt smoother and my energy levels went sky high! 2 months later I am down 20 pounds and have no intention of stopping. The recipes are easy, the foods are delicious and my cravings for refined sugar and flour are completely gone. I now look forward to snacking on fresh fruits and vegetables and I can even go out to restaurants and choose healthy, delicious foods. I don't look at it as a diet anymore, I look at it as a lifestyle change. This will be the last diet book you will ever buy. Trust me, If I could do it, anyone can!

Leo Galland, M.D. gives the reader the newest medical information and a step-by-step plans on how to become healthier. I highly recommend this book.

Author: Guest While the book was easy to read, preparing the food is quite time consuming if cooking is not something you really enjoy. Convenience foods aren't anywhere on this diet. Everything is fresh and requires lots of chopping. For the most part, my husband and I like the foods. However, during the first two weeks of the diet I felt that I was constantly Shopping for products, Preparing food, Eating food, or Thinking about preparing the food!!! It was stressful! And after all of that work I only lost two pounds in the first two weeks. The author says you will loose six to ten pounds in the first two weeks. I've kept up the diet (four weeks now) and it has gotten easier to prepare the foods. I have lost a total of four pounds now. The biggest change for me is cooking breakfast. In the past I typically ate cold cereal and a piece of fruit. This diet requires that one set aside time to prepare omelets and frittatas for the morning meal. While time consuming (if you are in a rush in the mornings) these breakfasts taste very good! In these four weeks I've tried some new foods. I am eating foods that are good for my health. Just wish I had lost more weight by now. I only wanted to loose 10 pounds. I intend to continue this diet.
