Description

Product Description

Science has recently begun to prove what ancient myth and religion have always espoused: There may be such a thing as a life force.

Lynne McTaggart, indefatigable investigative journalist, reveals a radical new biological paradigm -- that on our most fundamental level, the human mind and body are not distinct and separate from their environment but a packet of pulsating power constantly interacting with this vast energy sea.

The Field is a highly readable scientific detective story that offers a stunning picture of an interconnected universe and a new scientific theory that makes sense of supernatural phenomena. Original, well researched, and well documented by distinguished sources, The Field is a book of hope and inspiration for today's world.

"The Field" deserves attention, as it is intriguing and well written investigation into Unknown Borderline, definitely the first seven chapters.

General motive is a vacuum, called Zero Point Field (ZPF). This vacuum is like a space medium, its fluctuations responsible for the outer limits of human potential. Our consciousness operates on quantum frequency level and this leads to unification of faith (not necessarily in God) and science. Nice.

Can we accept success of homeopathy, works of "healers", creation of order (negative entropy) base on selected quantum physics properties that are extensively presented by the author?

Should we believe that attention and wishes create reality while relaxation/meditation expand our brain's Zero Point Field "bandwidth"?

Is this possible that we can influence our healthy and prosperous future, heal certain nasty illnesses by strong intentions, optimism and prayers (faith)?

Possibly yes. After all, even skeptic like Victor Stenger write in "Timeless Reality", that at quantum level time runs in both directions and this possibility accounts (according to McTaggart) for ability of seeing into the future.

On the other hand skeptics point out, the gap between subatomic quantum effects and large-scale macro systems like our brain is too large to bridge.

So here is some dose of skepticism, particularly where it starts passed chapter seven:

Since many years millions had been prayed for Pope John Paul II, yet his health was steadily deteriorating eventually leading to his death. Collective consciousness did not help much in his case.

And how about many time mentioned in this book, semi-blind physicist, ZPF believer, Russel Targ? Why did not he get some sort of help from intercessory influence or from the hands of highly effective "healer"?

Millions who live in Greater Toronto Area, I am sure, hate winter like I do.

Therefore why do not we have nice, mild, wind-less and snow-less winters in this city?

Apparently Toronto's dwellers are not effective in producing a positive effect on their environment?

You will not find anything about Zero Point Field in Brian Greene's book "The Fabric of the Cosmos" (probably the best physics/cosmology popular book of last years). However fact is, gravity remains the biggest mystery of science, we still understand so little about.

Fact is, scientists speculate about Higgs field saturating empty space and responsible for inertia, gravity and mass. This resembles Zero Point Field very much.

Never mind all above, book sends a very powerful message: better is to believe, be optimistic and keep faith. It may help and definitely never hurts. Professor Lawrence Krauss states in his latest book "Hiding in the Mirror": some people seek solace through the spirit, but for others it comes through knowledge. Maybe the consciousness of human beings has incredible powers to heal the world. We have to learn and be willing to use it, all of us, together and at the same time. Listen to Carlos Santana, he and his music heal!

In this mind-opening book, Lynne McTaggart's has written a timely and comprehensive guide to the newest revolution in scientific thinking. Even a couple of decades ago, the types of science discussed here would have been laughed away by the scientific establishment as a hoax. Not anymore. The reader gets a good introduction to quantum mechanics, zero-point energy, and subtle-energy science. McTaggart covers a wide range of areas related to the latest thinking in physics about the "zero-point field." This includes diverse subjects such as biology, astrophysics, and medicine. Specific examples that McTaggart delves into include homeopathy, remote viewing, biophoton emission, and holography.

I found her history of the earliest days of the remote viewing project with Targ and Putoff at SRI especially interesting. Likewise, her discussion of Benveniste's homeopathy and Fritz Popp's coherent photon emission theory are equally fascinating. The promise of this work is that it has the potential to show us the connection between our consciousness and the material world. The prospect that humans have the ability to modulate their consciousness in some way so as to connect with a background energy field in the universe is an empowering one. If you are keen for new ideas, this book will knock your socks off. Overall, this is one of the best introductions around on the subject of new science and readers of all types are bound to find it a captivating one.

Finally a book you can slip into the stockings of all of the skeptics on your list that raise their eyebrows to concepts such as energy field, creating reality, group consciousness, and the power of the mind. A wonderful exciting read that explains the science behind concepts that spiritual masters have known to be true for centuries.

There has always seemed to me to be something mysterious about how marketing works, especially when something kicks in and takes off, like 'iPod' and 'Napa Valley' and certain ideas. Word of mouth, or personal networks provides the media, but why are some messages so successful while other good ideas fade away? The Field suggests some answers that marketers should look at, namely a resonance. Not just that that's a good idea and I like it, but a deeper resonance at a level implied by The Field. There are many things to get out of this book, people who are trying to influence others should read this book for its implications for doing so in a much different way.
