Author: Guest Every recipe that I have tried in this book has been wonderful. Our favorites are Neapolitan Lamb Stew, Lamb Shanks, Chicken Stew and of course Corned Beef. There is prep work involved, but it is worth it considering we (family of four) usually get 2 meals out of each recipe. I would rather spend twenty extra minutes and use fresh foods, than save time by using canned foods. You get out of the slow cooker what you put in it!!!

Author: Guest Judging from reviews of slow cooking cook books there seem to be two distinct groups of users - those who work all day and need something ready when they get home and those whose interest in slow cooking is the quality that slow cooking adds to many foods. This is a book for the latter group. The recipes are delicious but may require attention during the cooking. When I bought my slow cooker I read the Amazon reviews and bought 4 slow cooker cook books. This is the only one I have used and the results have been great. The recipes in the other books seemed uninspired and except for the Betty Crocker book were not accompanied by photos to entice me. The Greek lamb shanks were a snap and delicious. The Moussaka was a little more complex and required adding the topping after 3 hours but tasted great. The recipes are organized by country of origin and include French, Greek, Indian, Mexican, Italian, English and American. If you need a dinner ready when you get home from work this is probably not the book for you but if you want to have dishes that you will be proud to serve to guests this it the best of the 4 books I purchased.

Author: Guest The recipes all sound amazing, and I'm sure that tonight's dinner will taste fabulous, but the last thing two working parents (who also love gourmet food) want to do is cook and eat dinner, then spend another hour pre-cooking tomorrow's dinner.
I like great food. I also have a toddler who can't wait until 7:30 for me to have dinner on the table. I was hoping for a cookbook that would allow me to capitalize on the advantages of the slow-cooker by tossing in a bunch of ingredients before I leave for work and coming home to a delicious meal.
Where is the compromise between pot roast in condensed cream of mushroom soup and a lamb stew that requires 15 minutes of prep time, 7-10 minutes PER BATCH of meat cooking time, then 20 minutes of vegetable cooking time? Where are the simple minimal-prep recipes that still feature fresh ingredients, "trendy" additions like basil and sundried tomatoes, and tastes which range beyond 1950s suburban meat-and-potatoes?
Not here, unfortunately. This cookbook will not get the use I had hoped.

Author: Guest I've made three different recipes, all supposedly from different countries and all different, but somehow they seem to all taste the same. Rather disappointing...

Author: Guest This is the best crock pot cookbook I have ever used! So far I have made the apricot chicken, chicken curry and neopolitan lamb stew and they have all been wonderful. My husband is Punjabi and has lived all over the world- even he thought the recipes tasted authentic. My co-workers loved the apricot chicken. I highly recommend this cookbook for any busy cook who doesn't have all day to spend in the kitchen and wants to serve tasty recipes from around the world.
