| The dramatic and chilling story of an Ebola virus outbreak in a surburban Washington, D.C. laboratory, with descriptions of frightening historical epidemics of rare and lethal viruses. Author: Guest I would not reccomend this book to those with a weak stomach. Personally, I loved all the gore, but some people hate it. This story really disturbed me because it was nonfiction. It happened before, and it could happen again. The book starts out with Charles Monet, a 56-year-old frenchman in Kenya, who goes spelunking with one of his..ahem, lady friends, and has a lovely New Year's with his ho. 7 days later, he comes down with a headache. The next thing you know he's bleeding from every orface. I loved the characters, how you'd get to know them and all before they died. It made it sort of sad. I thought this was a great book as long as you can handle it.

Author: Guest THE HOT ZONE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS I HAVE READ. I LIKE THE WAY RICHARD PRESTON DESCRIBES THE THINGS IN HIS STORIES. I HAVE READ THE COBRA EVENT AND, THE DEMON IN THE FREEZER. I THINK THAT THEY ARE VERY GOOD BOOKS AND PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE STUDY OF VIRUS'S SHOULD READ THEM. I ALSO LIKED THE COBRA EVENT. IN THE COBRA EVENT I LIKED HOW RICHARD PRESTON DESCRIBED THE SYMPTOMS OF THE VICTIMS IN THE STORY.IN THE DEMON IN THE FREEZER I WAS AMAZED AT HOW MUCH INFORMATION THE BOOK CONTAINED.

Author: Guest I don't often read fiction...but every now and then I want something to scare me. I love microbiology so I bought this book. Concentrating on Ebola and hemmoragic fevers of its type this book is surely to make you want to live in a bubble. Richard Preston never leaves a dull moment in this book. Every page you turn will leave you wanting more! I finished this book in 2 days and went on to his second book "A Demon in the Freezer" also a terrific read! I loved this book defentially worth the money!

Author: Guest If everything Preston claims is true in here is in fact non-fiction, then this real world nightmare of a book should scare any reader half to death. All this basically happened? The implications of what almost came to pass right under the complacency of modern human society should be a wakeup call to every government, every scientist, every person alive today. This planet is long overdue for a pandemic on the scale of the 1918 Spanish Flu or even, frankly, the Black Death, and this tells the scenario by which it might come about. This is NOT a pleasant story, but then again hiding our collective heads in the sand isn't going to get us anyplace, either. The Ebola virus is a true terror and The Hot Zone is the kind of book that makes you want to wear rubber gloves just to touch its cover!

Author: Guest Once you open this book you will not want to let it go. Richard Preston turns his books from science fiction to thrillers. He describes the most lethal viruses in which this case is "Ebola" and how these kinds of outbreaks can happen with one mistake. He tells you about how a small microbe can kill a man in days. It makes you ask the question, "Can this really happen"? This book gives an account of one of the most lethal outbreaks known to man.
