| When egghead Scotty Smalls moves to town just before the summer vacation of 1962, his first priority is to make friends. He heads to the nearby sandlot only to humiliate himself before the local kids, but star player Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez befriends the awkward boy, teaches him the basics of baseball, and welcomes him to the team. It's a summer filled with camaraderie and fun until Smalls hits his first home run. Problem is, Smalls's home run sends his stepfather's "Babe Ruth" autographed baseball into a neighboring yard that's patrolled by a snarling, slobbering monster called "The Beast." Creativity reigns and hilarity ensues when the boys risk everything to retrieve the ball. A final heroic encounter with "The Beast" and his owner yields some very surprising results. Action, humor, and friendship permeate this 101-minute film appropriate for ages 5 and older. This movie is a classic, and I don't think that anyone would disagree with that. There is no movie that could have the sweetness that this movie has. This movie has a ton of comedy, I laughed the whole time, this movie has a little mystery, and a good message of friendship. I've seen this movie so many times, my tape is actually down to nothing now, that's why I have the dvd now, and of course dvd is always better. I promise you this when you purchase this movie you will have made a very wise decision indeed!

The DVD its self came in perfict condition and plays great. I ordered two copys and only recieved one. On the shipping recipt it says two were sent. I do not have the time to be sending things back and forth to justify this situation since I am in Iraq. If any help can come from this I would appreciate it.

This is my favorite film of all time. The cast is so great. The kids just crack me up and the whole plot is great. I love it when they keep trying to get the ball back, but they kept failing. Then Benny does what no kid ever could do. This film is creatve, funny, and in my opinion one of the best sports films ever made.

I watched this film when I was very young with my dad and brothers, since then it has became one my favorite family films, because its a simple story told focusing in friendship and baseball.
The DVD has a nice widescreen anamorphic presentation, with an ok Dolby Digital 5.1 track.
In extras terms the DVD fails to deliver, it includes a very small featurette and trailers.
I recomend this film for the family and for the good old times.
