| Mixing a variety of styles with a Celtic base, this was McKennitt's breakthrough album and remains one of her most musically interesting. "All Souls Night" begins the album, with dance-like rhythms and McKennitt's wonderful voice singing about the Celtic New Year. Other features include a musical setting of Tennyson's "Lady of Shalott", which, while not as sophisticated as Noyes' "The Highwayman" on The Book of Secrets, is an enchanting listen. There's also an interesting rendition of "Greensleeves" and the Spanish-flavored "Tango to Evora", as well as the haunting "Courtyard Lullaby" and the wistful "The Old Ways". A setting of words from Shakespeare's Cymbeline closes the album, which focuses thematically on life, death, and the borders between them. --Genevieve Williams Editorial Descriptions are usually submitted by the manufacturers, publishers and authors. Author: Guest One of my favorites and one of my favorites of Ms. McKennitt. I believe that much of her musical message is expressed in this alblum, one of her earlier. If you admire her style of music, this is an amazing work of art.

Author: Guest I have been listening to Loreena Mckennitt my whole life, since my mother used to play her music when I was a little girl. Since that time, I have grown to love her music, and have collected a large number of her CDs. When I got this one, I was really excited, and I'm glad that I did.
My favorite song is probably The Old Ways followed by Courtyard Lullaby. I also really like Lady of Shallot and Tango to Evora. Pretty much though, I love all of them, and I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys folky, celtic, or new age music. I know many people who had this CD and all of them were constantly telling me that they loved it, and now I know exactly how they feel.
If you get it, you will definetly not regret it, and you will fall in love with the lyrical beauty and the instrumental dream.

Author: Guest Lorennas talent for writing and collaboration with world artists is amazing. The beautiful Haunting Celtic manifestations you hear on this album will send you into another world of imagination and dreaming. Simply magnificent.

Author: Guest Loreena's voice on this and every album is amazing - so perfectly suited to Celtic music. The first song I ever heard her sing was "The Lady of Shalott" (played on public radio in NC). I had to stop the car and close my eyes! Buy this album and every other album of hers - I'd be VERY surprised if you were the slightest bit disappointed.
