MagIQ DVD is a breakthrough in helping babies develop critical social, emotional and cognitive skills by enabling real-time interaction between a cuddly "Active Companion" and digital media. Your child can watch as this adorable cow responds to on-screen action with an array of synchronized words, sounds and exclamations -- all while encouraging your baby to do the same.
These specialized "Active Viewing" experiences help form a "MagIQ triangle" between your baby, the companion and the television. Your child will no longer stare passively at the screen -- instead she will look aside at her friend, pondering its reactions. This causes her to explore her own feelings and react proactively to the stimuli on the screen. Running time of DVD: 45 minutes.

Author: Guest The previous reviewer who doesn't like this product is correct in his comments about the "interaction" of the doll. But since I had used the demo toy in the store, I was well aware of the capabilities of it when I purchased it. I think the interaction is plenty good for a child... maybe not for a techno-teen or adult, but great for the audience for which it is made.
We got the toy when my daughter was 10 1/2 months old. she is now 13 months and she loves it as much (probably more) now than when we first got it. she asks for it almost every day.
the animals are SO darn cute and cuddly and soft (we have both the sheep and the cow). excellent quality. so loveable. both my 13 month old and my 4 1/2 year old love to hold them. plus, they have a little belly button that can be activated in absence of any CD or DVD. so you can just play with the animal alone. you press the belly button and it sings or says a phrase. just too cute.
I got my daughter the cow (12-36 months) but she loved it so much that I simply had to get the sheep. even though the sheep one is for 3-12 months, it is just fine. she will continue to enjoy watching the younger version for months if not years. even my 4 year old likes to watch.
they only have one DVD per doll now, but they are coming out with accessories soon (sept or oct I think) so that each doll can have more than one associated DVD. you can bet we will be getting them.
she claps and bounces with the songs. she waves. she laughs. she is really interested the whole time. there are a surprising number of concepts covered in each DVD. but not an overwhelming amount. it seems that whoever developed the video really knows what they are doing as far as introducing concepts that are perfect for this age level (wobbler) yet will still be appropriate as she grows to a toddler.
oh, forgot to mention... there is a bonus CD you can take in the car with some of the same familiar songs from the video and some new ones. my daughter loves the CD, too!
last comment... I am not sure what the previous reviewer is referring to when talking about the broken CD or DVD or the interference of other noises in the room. we have experienced none of that.
Author: Guest We purchased the Cow for my 1 1/2 year old son for Christmas and he absolutely loves it!!! He wants to watch it every night before bed. He picks up the stuffed cow and says "Moo-Moo" and puts it in front of the TV to synch it. The songs are great and he has learned many new words from playing along. It also came with a CD for the car which my son loves to listen to. I found that I have to sometimes turn the volume of the TV up to synch it and then lower it when the video starts. Also, occasionally if my son shakes the cow too hard it will lose its synchronization. I highly recommend this toy and it has kept my son's attention for the last three months.
Author: Guest I recently purchased Dot the Cow for my 15 mos. old daughter, Samara. From the moment I took Dot out of the box, my daughter LOVED it! She didn't want to let her go. I had to wait until dinner tme to put the batteries. My daughter reluctantly handed her over. By reluctantly, I mean she pitched a fit to the high heavens and the cow had to pried from her arms. Samara loves laughs and giggles with on screen characters and dances when they sing. My only issue is with the battery compartment. I am having a hard time screwing the screw in far enough so the batteries stay engaged. When they lose contact, it causes the cow to unsynch and I have to start it at the beginning of a chapter to re-synch it. Samara doesn't seem to mind, though.
