* The Jolly Jelly develops sight with its large smiling face, mirror at the back and colorful tentacles which encourage baby to look.
* A rattle that makes pleasant rattling sounds develops hearing.
* A variety of sensations is provided by the different fabrics and plastic parts for developing the sense of touch.
Gross Motor Skills
* When baby tries to reach his hand out to the toy in front of him he lifts his arm as one unit, an action which starts where his arm meets his shoulder, strengthening these muscles and those all along his arm. These muscles are part of the group of muscles used when developing gross motor skills.
Fine Motor Skills
Baby uses his hands in different ways, practicing and developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Following are some activities he may perform:
* Reach out and touch the colorful tentacle ribbons waving in front of his face.
* Grab the colorful ribbons in his hand and later, as his grip develops, learn to hold each ribbon separately.
Cognition
* When baby bats the Jolly Jelly causing it to sway back and forth, he learns the connection between his actions and the reactions they cause.
