 |
| Quick Fix's Total Mix is designed to deliver a maximum workout in minimum time. This 90-minute DVD format allows participants to design their own workouts with choices from nine separate segments. Each of these sets concentrates on specific body parts that can be done in any order. Workout combinations can span anywhere from 10 minutes to 90 minutes and will target the major muscles of the upper and lower body. "Ab Flex," "Leg Blaster," "Arm Toner," and "Buns Firmer" are just a few of the segments offered here and some of these sets require the use of dumbbells (three to eight pounds) and a chair. The instruction is solid and some safety pointers are illustrated for the benefit of beginners. While time-savvy exercise programs are attractive to most, participants should remember that beneficial results occur with regular and repetitious use. With a weekly commitment of at least three sessions, there is potential to gain strength and muscle tone while creating new combinations to suit your individual needs. This variety will keep the major muscles challenged while holding the attention of the most easily bored exercisers. --Olivia Voigts Editorial Descriptions are usually submitted by the manufacturers, publishers and authors. Author: Guest This DVD is great for variety. The menu is easy to choose from. The only thing I don't care for are the obviously fake body parts on some of the instructors.

Author: Guest Great for a quick work out. Arms, abs and legs workouts can be combined, I don't get bored with it. I recommend it highly.

Author: Guest This is the first DVD format exercise program I have purchased, and I was unsure how I would like the switch from video. It is the perfect format for " Total Mix." It's simple to select just which body part I want to focus on.
If you haven't experienced the Quickfix system, it's a pleasant surprise. Each 10-minute session displays a clock that counts down the minutes - a reassuring little motivation to help you through the workout.
While I wouldn't use this DVD as my primary workout video, it's an fairly pleasant supplement. The three attractive exercise teachers at times seem to border on salacious, and their conversations grow a bit tedious. The excercises are effective, interesting and seem grounded in exercise physiology. The music is appealing.

Author: Guest This is a quick workout for the time crunched people of the world, however, the intensity isn't quite what I am looking for. It's fun and a nice break for those off days you might be having, but for the serious about changing their shape, this DVD won't get you there.
The weight workout with the arms moves too quickly for a proper muscle fatigue, since you must use lighter weights in order to keep up with their timing on the DVD. Use anything heavier, and you are forced to move slower, hence missing out on the count of reps they offer. Yes fatigue can occur with many reps and without a break between exercises, but I prefer a slow and steady rep for really achieving that burn.
The leg and bun workout is good, but again moves very quick, and by the time the 10 min. section is over, my buns are just beginning to feel it. So you really need to do the next section to get a good burn on the buns and legs.
Arms are neglected to a degree in this workout, giving you only one standard arm routine, the other is offered with lower body conditioning combined. This type of workout is never a winner for me. I like to isolate each area I work, so that I am not co-contracting in an area I can't really focus on.
And the calves of the legs are totally neglected in this workout. Still looking for one that offers a good calf workout incorporated into the DVD for strength training. Oh well!
Best way to ultimately use this workout, is to do the entire routine in one sitting and don't break it up like they suggest. And don't forget about warmup-that just isn't happening on the DVD.

Author: Guest This is a great DVD for any level exerciser. I'm always pleased with the intensity level after I do a combo of the 3 workouts. Definitely worth the money. Make sure you have a set of dumbells. Anything from 2 to 5 lbs will do. Lighter for the less advanced exerciser.
