Watermark
Description

 |
| Enya's 1988 recording Watermark achieved landmark success with her groundbreaking use of multi-tracking technology to fuse new age and Celtic themes and instrumentation. The meticulous production defines her sound and achieves continuity even while weaving together tender ballads, piano pieces, massively layered vocal harmonies, and symphonic synthesizer movements. Although Enya's pristine voice isn't especially strong, her lead vocals possess a vulnerability that reflects the lyrics' sense of personal searching. From the ubiquitous, frothy single "Orinoco Flow" (which was used to hawk Crystal Light on TV) to the hard, bold edge of "Cursum Perficio," Enya's style remains fresh and engaging today. --Richard Price Editorial Descriptions are usually submitted by the manufacturers, publishers and authors. Author: Guest Enya never disappoints and although it does start sounding all the same it then turns into something completely different. Close your eyes and let the music take you away to a peaceful place. This is one of the best!

Author: Guest Enya has a remarkable voice and range. Her music is not for everybody but it is for me. I feel like I'm being raised up to a higher level spiritually playing this collection. She has a voice that is like a heavenly choir of angels. She doesn't neglect her Celtic background neither and pays homage to her roots by singing Celtic songs. There are might be other singers out there but there is only one Enya and she continues to redefine herself and her music through the years.

Author: Guest Wonderful, relaxing, and beautiful. But we've all come to expect that from Enya's music. Absolutely fantastic!! One of the most beautiful voices around!

Author: Guest The music on this CD is low key, very relaxing, yet interesting enough that you find yourself just wanting to sit back and listen to see where it carries you next.

Author: Guest This is one of Enya's most popular albums, and it's no wonder why. It's a New Age album that uses synthesizers, but isn't overwhelmed by them, and relies on the strength of the human voice.Enya is a one-woman choir.
"Watermark" is a perfect opening song.
"On your shore" is a song of remarkable longing. It would've been a better ending for "Return of the King" than "Into the West." It would've been perfect for the scene in which Frodo embarks westward&I got all choked up.
"Cursum Perficio" is tremendous.Enya is expert with Latin. This is chant-like,evoking a cathedral in song.
"Storms in Africa" sounds like storms;turbulent,a musical whirlwind. It swept me.
"Orinoco Flow" is filled with energy. It's a mainstream hit,and a GREAT ONE at that.
"Exile" would've been perfect for "Return of the King"if Merry&Eowyn had eloped with each other&got banished by their families. It's THAT powerful a song.
"Longships" again would've been perfect for the sailing westward scene in "Return of the King." Deeply mystical.
"Evening falls" is a melancholy song.It's sad,but in a good,cathartic way.
Enya is now successful with "Amarantine",but "Watermark" shows her true talents.
